Portforward (router + unknown device modem?? or)
Hello :) So i've just moved house, and I want to portforward. I tried portforwarding at my default gateway (192.168.1.1 - R6250 router) But when I go to canyouseeme.org it shows that the port is cl...

Are you trying to say that your "home" has some sort of (unspecified)
"the gateway", and that you're connecting your R6250 to that "the
gateway"? "gateway" normally means "modem+router". That would make two
routers.

Still true.

That's fine when your router is the only router.

It's an address on the LAN subnet of that "the gateway". I saw that.

Doesn't matter. A network connection is a network connection.

Still true.

I assume that other people are using that "the gateway" as their
router, so that scheme is not an option.

That would be the one remaining option.
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at least). Read. Look for
"Use the Router as a WiFi Access Point Only".

I can't see what you "tried". There were numbers in it, right?
> [...] - but its say something like "IP address of port forwarding rule
> 1 is not within IP range of any bridge in route"
Because it can do port-forwarding only to an IP address on its own
LAN. If you configure your R6250 as a WAP, then all your devices will
be on the LAN of that 'the "internet port" gateway', so that complaint
should disappear.

Same problem, same solution.
Note, however, that with the R6250-as-WAP, you will be sharing the
LAN with other users of that 'the "internet port" gateway'. It's not as
private as having your own router.

When I enabled WAP(Wireless acces point) in the r6260 it says something like "Bridge 1 dhcpd host 1 IP address is not in the same network as dhcpd address" in the "internet port gateway" when i try to portforward. I don't know if it did that before i enabled WAP.. I tried to disable the WAP, but it still says that.

The case, is that i want to portforward my VMWare Linux local adress and a port (4444).. Without WAP it says
"IP address of port forwarding rule 1 is not within IP range of any bridge in router"
With WAP it doesn't say that
but no matter what it says "Bridge 1 dhcpd host 1 IP address is not in the same network as dhcpd address"
Sorry im not good at this im just used to no problems because i dont have this form of network setup..

Should I just ignore "Bridge 1 dhcpd host 1 IP address is not in the same network as dhcpd address" and enable WAP again. And then portfortward through the "internet gateway". With my VMWare local pc ip adress and the poth (TCP/UDP)

Are you talking about your still-unidentified 'the "internet port"
gateway'? How much do you think that any of the non-psychics here knows
about it.Find a maker and model number for that gizmo. Then find some
documentation for it. Read.Do you think that any of the non-psychics here can see what you're
doing with it, whatever it is?
