Possible that iOS and new OSX have introduced problems on these devices with older model routers. Apple introduced Private Security which means they randomly change the devices MAC address. This seems to have cause some problems with some users. Something you'll need to get in contact with Apple support about.
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Try setting CTS values to 2307 Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings
