R 6400 router stopped working

My R6400 AC1750 Smart Wi-Fi router stopped getting internet signal. I reset it/power cycled at least six times and agreed to let service provider do so remotely. It was unsuccessful at achieving a connection and the second light which should be illuminated for the Internet was not lit. I inserted a paper clip into the pinhole while it was disconnected and that did not make any difference either. Is there anything else to try or has it exhausted the performance life?

    No light at all when you connect it to the modem?  The manual explains what you should see.

    Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

    What colour is the power LED?

     

    Tried different cables between the router and the modem?

     

    Is the modem working OK? What is it?

     

    Can you access the R6400 with a web browser and the graphical user interface (GUI)?

     

    This is an ageing mid range router (2015). These things don't last for ever.
