Netgear sent me a email telling me to update the router. Told me to go to my netgear night owl app and update it. No interruptions or anything. Now power button keeps blinking. I've unplugged it and turned back on still does it. So do I need to try to push the reset button?

I hope that was a genuine email. They usually are bit there are some crooks out there. Beware anything you find with a Google search.
Those email rarely tie on with a recent update. They just go out from time to time in what seems like a marketing wave to people who have signed u[ on MyNetgear.

Is that the Nighthawk app?
Did it find an update an and start to install it?

If the router is not working, and not getting a connection to the Internet, then a reset would be the nest step.
- Aspears32Nov 02, 2022AspirantIt took me to the nighthawk app and there was an update available. There isn't a reset button on it. There is a button but when I push it, it does nothing.

The manual says:
Press the button for more than 10 seconds until all the LEDs blink green.
It also says:
If the Power LED blinks slowly and continuously, the router firmware might be corrupted.
Out of interest, how fast is your Internet service?
If it is anything above 100 Mbps, you might want to replace it anyway.
According to Netgear's manual for this device, not always the most reliable source of information, the LAN and WAN ports support only 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX. That makes it slower than many newer internet services and most modern network hardware.
- Aspears32Nov 02, 2022AspirantI've only had it for little over a year, but it is kinda slow. Thats what the power is doing blinking slowly and continuously. I held the button in but not that long I had to go back to work. Its sounding like my best bet is to just by another one. When it comes to this stuff I have no clue what is going on. I need something that will support all the device ls I have on it. I have like 8 connected to it. So I say that slows it down also
