Idk it's thru charter. When I upgraded to this modem he said it was the fastest one but apparently there is another one that came out.
It isn't the modem that matters.
Most modems supplied today will have an Ethernet output that connects to the router at 1000 Mbps. But if the router's input can candle only 100 Mbps then you are throwing away anything above 100 Mbps from the Internet.
So the question is really what speed you pay for from Charter. If it is DSL Internet, it won't be faster than 100 Mbps. If it is cable Internet it could be a lot faster than that and you are wasting money.
Charter (aka Spectrum?) says it offers "300 Mbps up to 1 Gbps". If that's you, your router is crippling your connection.

People often find that ISPs "overprovision" their services and deliver speeds a bit over the specifications. So paying for 100 Mbps may deliver 110 Mbps, sometimes even more.
If it isn't too complicated, you could test the speed that you get out of your modem and see what you actually get.
As it is, a router that says 100 Mbps may well struggle over 95 Mbps.
Then there is the chance that your ISP will decide to increase your speed just for the heck of it.
I say this just to show that even if you mend your R6020 you may not be gett8ng the best out of your Internet subscription.
It is amazing that Netgear even sells those things these days. It move most of its routers over to Gb Ethernet a decade a ago.
- Aspears32Nov 03, 2022AspirantI decided to just go ahead and get another router last night. So far everything is working great and at better speed.

Excellent news. I'm not surprised by the speed increase you see. That's why I mentioned it in the first place.
Now, if you can find a friendly neighbourhood nerd they can have fun trying to fix your R6020.
