R6050 as wireless AP

I finally was able to set the R6050 up as AP.  Thanks to those here.  Maybe I don't understand "AP," nut here's my new problem.  I have the 6050 2 rooms and 1 floor from the Asus router.  Not ethernet cable connection.  SSID is different from the Asus.  Signal is Strong.  The 6050 SSID shows on my phone and tablet, but, trying to connect fails.  No errors.  Just shows 'connecting' for a few seconds, then reverts to the Asus SSID.

Can the 6050 work as a typical AP (i.e. no cabling needed)?  What am I missing?

It sounds like you set it up in bridge mode. Bridge mode just makes a wireless bridge between the R6050 and your Asus and only the ethernet ports work.

The mode you'd be looking for is extender mode, its not an option with that device. You're trying to make it work like an wireless extender
