R6050 Won't Install Firmware Update
Brand new R6050. I'm wanting to update it to the current firmware. It says it currently has V1.0.1.10_1.0.1; however, when I look at the available versions in the Downloads section of Netgear's web s...
Ok, I've gone through Netgear's uncalled for harassment and they have updated their web site to indicate the correct firmware version. I've verified that the site is now showing v1.0.1.10 as the current version and that the router itself is no longer prompting to be updated.
I have a 3 year old R6050 router and also can’t install the update offered. I tried with the upgrade assistant and by downloading the upgrade. I tried for clarification from Netgear and was offered an answer for $139.00. Keeping in mind I could get a new one (same kind) for around $60, I was not going to pay that. I assumed they were taking advantage of the security situation to earn some extra money.

What happens when you tried to install the firmware?
- I have the same current firmware version as the original poster for this discussion. When I try to install it all appears to be going normally. Says it is updating the settings but ultimately shows the same version I had before and still says there is an update available. I’ve tried rebooting the router, even unplugged it.

Unless you have a better idea, I'd give up and wait for the next version.
Sadly, Netgear does not seem to be too keen to respond.
Since my unit is brand new, I have submitted this as a warranty request. We'll see what happens.
