R6200V2 running slow after provider increased speeds to home
So here in Alaska my provider GCI upgraded my internet package from 50mb down/5 mb up to now 100 mb down/ 10 mb up. However, i have complained about not getting anywhere close to that speed at home...

Hi Ak_Byrdman,
1. Have you tried performing a factory reset on the router? If not, you can check the link below for the steps then reconfigure the settings.

2. You can also try changing the MTU value and see if there is any improvement. Check the links below on how to determine the best MTU value and how to change it.

So I did everything you asked. I now am getting nearly 100 mb down and 10 mb up from my router when I am connected by cat5 to it. However I can't go above 50 Mb down 10mb up by wifi. Any ideas why the wifi is stopping at 50 mb speed?

Hi Ak_Byrdman,
Good to know you got it working on the wired connection.
1. Are all the devices affected?
2. Does the issue persist on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz band?
3. If your wireless devices are only capable of connecting to the 2.4GHz band, this is right around the normal average range.

All devices are affected when connected to the router by wifi. I am on the 2.4 ghz channel. I have not tried the 5 ghz band but will when I get off work. I have a PS4 that I believe doesnt support 5 ghz speed. I also found this on a topic discussing 5 ghz:
Contrary to popular belief, 5GHz Wifi does not automatically provide faster 802.11N ethernet than 2.4GHz. Usually it only offers better speeds because there are fewer devices that support it so you don't have to share the bandwidth. If you are getting slower speeds on 2.4GHz it's because
- There are other 2.4GHz clients on the network hogging the bandwidth.
- You are not using WPA2-PSK (AES) security. Any other type of security, including no security, will cause 802.11N wifi to fall back to G speeds.
Is this true? Do I need to insure I am using WPA2-Psk security? I really have no idea what that is but I will log onto the router and figure out what I am using.
Ive been scouring youtube on videos to speed your wifi and there seems to be programs that can scan your wifi channels to look for interferance? Is this something I should try? Any programs Netgear recommends.? Should I still just upgrade this router or is this router a top of the line router still? I really have no idea. Ive seen these three Antennae routers, are these better?
Thanks for all the help. Honestly 50 mb is to slow for my wifii if I have 100 mb plan, I think my router should provide in the 75-90 range i would think for wifii if it is getting 100mb wired.

Yes, use WPA2-Psk for security. Also, ensure your modem and router are connecting at 1000Mbps. You mentioned "CAT5" cabling, ensure it is at least CAT5e, otherwise you won't connect at 1000Mbps, between router and modem and will lose throughput speed. If you can, use 5ghz only for your mobile devices. Set 5ghz to channel 149, or above. Test your channel settings.
Direct connect your game consoles with an Ethernet cable, instead of playing wirelessly. You can get a cheap dumb switch to plug your game consoles in to. It would be much better than wireless.

Thanks, I will do this as soon as I get off work ! Cheap dumb switch I am assuming is one of these switches you plug into your home wall outlet and connect one to the ps4 the other switch in the room with the router that is cat5e cabled to another dumb switch in a wall outlet? Am I correct?
