R6220 Router Internet Connection Dropped

My ISP is Xfinity and I called them the other day and they performed a network patch. After I rebooted my Modem once the patch was completed, I noticed my router wasn't providing an internet connection.

The router portal showed it was connected to the internet but none of my devices could connect. I plugged the modem directly into a few devices and confirmed I was getting an internet connection from there.

After I updated the firmware for the R6220 router I finally got it to work thinking that was the issue. About a day later the router stopped sending an internet signal again.

Is my router failing and it's time to upgrade or could something else be at play that I'm not thinking of?

    What is that modem? Make and model?

     


    After I updated the firmware for the R6220 router I finally got it to work thinking that was the issue.

    How did you update the firmware and what version did you install?

     

    When you change things on the network, be sure to restart devices in the correct order.


    Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:

    • Turn off and unplug modem.
    • Turn off router and computers.
    • Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
    • Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
    • Turn on computers and rest of network.
