R6250 genie only set-up 2.4 and guest .What about 5?
I only have 2 internet access choices for my home. 2.4 and 2.4 guest on Windows 7.. Should I have one for the 5.0? If so one was not generated by the genie at install. So my ipad shows it as a choice...

Hi @scottss,
You may refer to the link below for an overview on the difference between the 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
1. The router is broadcasting on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands since your iPad can detect both signals.
2. The devices that do not detect the 5GHz signal may not have a dual band antenna/adapter.
3. Your Internet download speed will max out on what you have subscribed for which is 55Mbps.
4. It is a good thing that you are getting equal download speeds on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

Hi Dexter. I am running an online speed test down to the device. At my pc the download is 55Mps and the pc can only run 2.4 Ghz.
The ipad shows a choice between 2.4 and 5.0. On either of these selections the speed is 55Mps on the device. I have cable providing the internet. If I look at my internet selections for my house. I have a 2.4 selection and a 2.4 guest selection. I show no 5.0 selection available as a choice. 1. Do I need to set one up knowing that my internet supplier is only providing 55Mps? If I had a 5.0 set-up would I get faster speeds on the internet with the ipad assuming I selected 5.0 on the ipad. The install genie never offered anything on the 5.0. Clarifying the difference between using 2.4 and 5.0 and when they are used would certainly help me understand when I could be using the 5.0 and have a better experience than using 2.4. Thankyou for your time. scottss
