R6300[v1] or R6300v2? Look for "Model" on the product label.
Firmware version?> cannot log into it
What happens when you try?
"cannot" is not a useful problem description. It does not say what
you did. It does not say what happened when you did it. As usual,
showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at least). Read.
Look for "Reset" and/or "Factory Settings". Then, for an R6300v2,
"Wireless Access Point (AP)".
According to the R6300[v1] User Manual, that model lacks a WAP-mode
option, but that may not be fatal. For an ad-hoc scheme to deal with
such models, see, for example:https://community.netgear.com/t5/x/x/m-p/1463500
That's written for a Netgear C6300-as-WAP, but the steps are about the
same for any other router (any make/model) which lacks a one-step WAP
option. If the router which you're reconfiguring has a WAN/Internet
Ethernet port (unlike a Cxxxx), then leave it unconnected.- ibgolfnAspirant
OK,
Have a Spectrum wireless appliance.
Have a R6300.
Want to make the R6300 a WAP.
Have the Spectrum system working, laptop plugged into my docking port.
Plugged the R65300 into the extra LAN plug on my PC.
I probably need to unplug the Spectrum wireless.
Then I amy be able to access the R6300 to change it to a WAP???
Thoughts?
> Have a Spectrum wireless appliance.
That tells me nothing. Has it a maker and a model number? Is it
some kind of router, or modem+router, or what?> Have a R6300.
So, definitely _not_ an R6300v2?
> [...] Look for "Model" on the product label. Firmware version?Still a mystery.

You ran an Ethernet cable from some hole or other on the R6300(?) to
_what_, exactly? You'd likely be wiser to use one Ethernet interface on
your computer at a time.A cable has two ends. For each cable, what, exactly, does it connect
to what, exactly? (Hint: If a device has different types of Ethernet
ports, then "connected to device" is not enough detail.)> I probably need to unplug the Spectrum wireless.
"unplug" what, exactly, from what, exactly? Why?'
> Then I amy be able to access the R6300 to change it to a WAP???
I'd call the instructions in that thread cited above pretty clear and
detailed. Nothing there mentions a second Ethernet interface on the
computer. I'd stick with those instructions.
