R6300 router loses internet connection when GS205 switch is connected
I have a R6300 router that has been working great for a number of years. I have a number of devices wired directly to it (Magic Jack, etc.) and everything works flawlessly. The 2.4 and 5G wireless ...

Well, it happened again. Not sure what the cause is, but after a few days of everything working, everything died on me - no wired or wireless internet connectivity. I unplugged the power to the GS205 and everything is instantly fixed. Then I plug the power back into the GS205 and reconnect everything one by one and the wired connections work. Truly makes no sense to me why this keeps occurring, but at least I have a fix for it now.

DexterJB and TheEther - you both seem to be the only ones that respond to these posts. Can you please respond with a suggestion of what may be wrong?

Jeremy,
I saw your post earlier but could not immediately think of an explanation. Since you specifically asked for my input, can you describe exactly how everything is connected? Perhaps you have a forwarding loop somewhere.

Thanks for responding TheEther. Regarding your question, I have my R6300 router connected to my Motorola cable modem. One of the ports on my router runs to a GS605 switch and everything works fine. I just connected a GS205 to one of the other open ports on my router. As mentioned above, when I first connected it everything was fine - it worked for about a week flawlessly. Then out of no where I lost all connectivity - wired and wireless. After a good bit of trouble shooting, my issue resolved itself as soon as I disconnected the new GS205 switch. I've since tried reconnecting the GS205 and as soon as I do I lose all internet connectivity - wired and wireless. Makes no sense to me. Hoping you have a suggestion on what I can do to get this working.

Does connecting the GS205 to the router with nothing else connected to the GS205 immediately cause the problem?
Do the link lights on the GS205 look ok?
Have you tried swapping cables around?
Have you tried running a packet sniffer, like Wireshark, to observe the traffic on the network?
