R6300v2 401 Error on Login Cancel

When I type in my router's IP address, I get the login screen. I forgot my password, so I hit "Cancel" to see the recovery screen. However, instead of the recovery screen, I just get: 401 Unauthorized Access to this resource is denied, your client has not supplied the correct authentication. Does this mean password recovery is disabled? I'd rather avoid a factory reset, if possible. If it's possible to still reach the recovery screen, how might I go about that? I have tried from multiple devices with the same result. I have tried resetting the modem. I have tried accessing it through an Ethernet cable. I don't know if this is relevant, but I have two of the same model router daisy chained from my modem (long house), this one being the second in the chain. Thank you all in advance.
