Hello - I am running firmware version V1.0.3.6_1.0.63CH Wanted to be sure I was current for any vulnerabilities, so . . . Download R6300v2-V1.0.4.36_10.0.93.chk from netgear.com Went into the Ad...

I post the following for those who stumble upon this thread in the future and wonder what the eventual solution was.
By cobbling together the steps below from various sites, threads, suggestions and then modifying it for current conditions.
This worked for me and left me right where I wanted to be .
I used the following procedure specifically to remove the CH (charter) version and revert back to V1.0.3.22_10.0.67 – same version, but no longer Charter. From this I could then upgrade to the latest version from Netgear. If you’re looking to do something different you will need to modify these instructions for your purposes. Again, this worked for me, but may not for you for any number of reasons. Good luck.
1. Manually Backup your router settings - write them down
2. Flash the new firmware dd-wrt.K3_R6300V2CH.chk (can now be found here https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/download.php?id=42538&sid=417bea094969968cd6a3c07c50635a51)
3. This will change the firmware to V1.0.3.22_10.0.67, which is no longer Charter
4. NOTE: The router interface will change drastically. See here for more details on dd-wrt: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DD-WRT
5. You will need to navigate to flash the new updated firmware; On the Administration tab there is a FirmWare Upgrde tab
6. Flash the new firmware with the latest version from Netgear – currently R6300v2-V1.0.4.36_10.0.93
6. Wait till the router is fully flashed and restarted.
7. Factory reset your router.

Hello,
Any change Antinode is available to review my question? Still hoping I can find a solution to this. Thank you.

Not I. I've never touched one of those routers, and I have no actual
experience with any of the firmware for it. All I know is what I read
in the papers. You know about as much as I do about this procedure.
Knowing nothing, I'd've guessed that the TFTP recovery scheme by
itself would have done the job, but various people have reported that
you need to use that more elaborate procedure with the third-party
firmware. What do I know?

Antinode - thank you. I'm still trying to figure out what you meant when you said:
The answer's still the same: https://community.netgear.com/t5/x/x/m-p/1543374
Any chance you could elaborate on that? Thank you so much.
