R6350 configure without modem connection impossible?
Anyone else have similar experience, or greater knowledge as to what is or might be going on here? R6350 with "previous" (sorry, did not retain what version that was, live and learn) firmware sup...

Have been using nmrpflash to install firmware images.
My protocol has been...
With R6350 powered off,
port 1 connected to computer via cross-over cable,
wireless adapter disconnected (sometimes actually had disabled)
start nmrpflash as documented elsewhere,
then press reset button and hold, then power on, keep holding reset,
See leftmost power led come on, then go off
See all four leds come on together, then go off
See leftmost power led come on (again), then release reset button
nmrpflash seems to work showing output similar to that documented on its github page
nmrpflash last message is to reboot modem
I power off, then power on, after it seems to have fully boot, with lights stabilized, having
leftmost power led on and 3rd from left wireless led on, I perform
factory reset, pressing reset button for about 5 seconds and then releasing,
wait again for modem to seem to be stabilized/rebooted
then, power off, power on again, wait for stabilization, then
attempt to access via http://192.168.1.1/
Have now tried following firmware images with similar results/behavior documented in original post:
(R6350_V1.1.0.78_1.0.1.img)
R6350-V1.1.0.64_1.0.1.img
R6260_V1.1.0.38_1.0.1.img
R6260_V1.1.0.34_1.0.1.img
So, assuming those images were actually successfully flashed (not seeing firmware version reported
in any portion of UI I have gotten to after flashing those images), having tried back to earliest
verion posted, appears all currently posted firmware now functions in this fashion.

Why? Nothing in your complicated, and hard to follow, account suggests that you have broken firmware. In any case, nmrpflash is not the first thing to try.
You seem to be making life very complicated for yourself.
Go back to basics and tell us what the power LED on the device looks like after you turn the router on.
What is it that you are actually trying to achieve?
Your subject R6350 configure without modem connection impossible? also doesn't make much sense to me.
It is very easy to update a router without a "modem connection".

But it is impossible to configure things that depend on having an modem connection. That's because the router has to work with the modem to connect to the Internet.

Will try to add more detail later when I have more time, tho I doubt it will be helpful, but was inspired to note initially...michaelkenward wrote:

-nmrpflash seems to be working just fine for me
-as far as 'broken', the 'broken'ness is currently appearing to me to be by design, see final note

-*Actually get to to the 'major' UI configuration pages without having an internet connection, say where you can modify
-*DHCP settings, override MAC address, etc.

-*not sure if there may be language barrier, "configure" is the problem, not "update"ing firmware.
-*Having no trouble "update"ing router firmware without a modem connection.
-*Issue is with trying to *configure* the router (access the configuration UI usefully beyond initial admin credential
-*prompts) since the firmware has been updated.

-configuring things related to the modem connection were *not* a problem with the firmware that was originally on the
-device before I flashed it with something different, it *only* seems to be a problem, possibly by design (netgear desire for
-collection of analytic data?) with firmware currently hosted/posted by netgear.

More detail not needed.
Just details that make sense.
