Yea Netgear isn't going to provide anymore firmware updates to your router, either you use a third party firmware like dd-wrt that keeps it updated or just wait til your router dies and get a new one.

What is your actual firmware version? You can always manually update to the latest if you aren't on it. Keep in mind, there a version 1 and version 2 of the R6400.
Find V2 here: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/r6400v2/
And V1 here: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/r6400/
Click on downloads and compare the version you're on to the latest. And then manually update.
Are you having any other issues or just wanting to make sure you're updated?

Thank you for the knowledgeable reply, and mine is an R6400v2. The final firmware version listed in the link is v1.0.4.128. The one that Nightwing shows for mine is v1.0.5.128. What do you think that means? Would it be a third party update? Should I replace it manually with the earlier “official” version?
