R6400 or R6400v2
Does Netgear support monitor these forums? Hope so. I might have an issue that some folks have discussed on these forums; it seems my firmware is not at the correct level (current firmware on router ...

This is essentially a user-to-user forum, with some input from a small band of Netgear techies. You can try the official channels for support, but be warned that after 90 days they will want money before talking to you. Much easier to try to sort it out here before you open your wallet.
My serial # is 4B366B77A4752. Is this a model R6400 or R6400v2?
Look at the label on the bottom. If it is V2 it will say so. If it says nothing it is V1.
(current firmware on router is 1.0.2.34_1.0.22 which is higher than what is posted on the R6400 support page, 1.0.1.78.
That firmware is for the V" router and is about seven years old, and about 20 versions behind the newest.

The newest version is two years old:

You may have to go through some intermediate versions if you can't get there in one giant leap.

Thanks! Label on my router says "Model: R6400" so it is not a v2. Appears somehow I have the v2 firmware installed. I will proceed to install the R6400 firmware 1.0.1.78. Thanks.

Why am I not surprised?
Maybe the graphical user interface (GUI) is more accurate.

R6400v2 Firmware Version 1.0.4.128 - NETGEAR Support
The router should object if you try to install the wrong firmware for your version.

Netgear is usually pretty good at not allowing the wrong firmware to be installed (ie a v2 image on a v1 router) and the model number on the back/bottom should have v2 if it's a v2. Not sure you got where you are but you can try downloading the current (latest) version of firmware for your router and install it manually.
Current version for the v1 is 1.0.1.78
Current version for the v2 is 1.0.5.128
