r6400v2 - slow to sync connected to Spectrum Cable end

What does "syncing " mean? Establishing a wifi connection? Something else?
Sorry, I am decidedly non-technical.
I will click on a url, some time goes by- a couple of seconds, the url appears in the address line, again some time (seconds) passes and then the content appears.I have tried to update firmware through the 'Nighthawk' app but always get an error message. 'there was a problem checking firmware update.'

Not something I usually associate with "syncing", which could mean many tbhings. Sadly, there can be lost of things that get in the way of browsing.

The app is not the best way to update.
There are a couple of other options. This is the safest and mostb rfe;iable:

It can also seem a bit intimidating. So another options is the browser graphical user interface (GUI).
Manuals are always a good place to start.
Visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
That page will also have any software, firmware and drivers for your device, if they exist.
Check the section in the manual on updating the firmware.I need to hold off trying this update for 3 weeks.
My wife and I are in the middle of a very busy online period and I don't want to get to a more unknown situation.
Since this current problem is 'manageable' and there is no obvious fix, I will hold off for 3 weeks and tackle am update and reset when she is away and my life is less busy.Thanks so much.
