Connections from what? What happens?
It might help if you told people what the modem is in front of this router, if there is one. The make and model number could be useful. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?
The reason for asking is that a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting. And the symptoms you describe could be down to something else on the network, such as a modem/router.

That's a bit odd. Could be something related to the other behaviour.
I'd start by trying to sort out the refused connections rather than the lost logs.
- I restart the router as a general tech support trick (restart each possible device that could be the cause of the problem).
When I say it refuses connection, I mean I can see the SSDIs but selecting either does not result in connection. Most of the devices it just attempts to connect several times before quiting. Cell phones display a ip configure error but with no other information. No other device show any error messages.
The modem is a netgear cm500. Restarting it, while keeping the router on, does not fix the issue, only restarting the router does so I'm fairly sure it's something with the router.

You can reduce the hassle of reconfiguring all those settings by creating a backup of your settings before you reset.
Do it when your router is behaving normally and you can access the browser graphical user interface (GUI).
With luck, your problem will go away after the reset.
You could then try restoring the settings, but be prepared for that to bring back your problem. At least you would then know that the reset fixed it.If the reset didn't fix the problem, you can restore the settings.
- If I'm going to have to go nuclear and do a full factory reset, I'd rather just trash the router and get a different brand.
Does anyone have any idea on how I can access the logs or save them so I can access them after a restart to try and get some more information before I trash it and swear off netgear forever?
