No, it shouldn't make a difference. You can use Wi-Fi to configure the router.
Go to Basic Settings and make sure the following are set:
- Does your Internet connection require a login? No
- Internet IP address: Get Dynamically from ISP
If you make any changes, be sure to click Apply to save them. Then reboot the router for good measure while it is plugged into the modem. Log back in and confirm that the router has obtained an IP address from Comcast.

Thanks for the reply. I do have both of those settings set correctly, and have power cycled the router, but it still comes up as detecting a static IP.

mollusk Disconnect the router first from the modem and have those two settings selected and once it's been saved reconnect the Ethernet cable between the router and the modem.
