"try" _how_, exactly?

What, exactly, does this "error message" say? Or is it a secret?
> Any suggestions as to why I keep getting the error message.
Without seeing "the error message"? No.
None of that is a useful problem description. It does not say what
you did. It does not say what happened when you did it. As usual,
showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.

To what is the WAN/Internet port on the Orbi connected?

Try a psychic hotline? Provide even a little useful information?
- GreyBeard1948Apr 11, 2021AspirantI open the Orbi Netgear application. I go to settings. Open router settings. Click on check for firmware updates. Picture of Orbi Router showing Checking for new firmware. After about 2-3 minutes I get a message, Firmware Check Error. There was a problem checking firmware update. I can than either hit try again or skip which takes me back to setting screen of application.
I apologize for not being a tech guru but I think your comments are a bit harsh. I will try to provide more information.- plemansApr 11, 2021Guru - Experienced User
Please look at the box/device the router is connected to on the wan port. This should be your gateway.
It should have a model number
- GreyBeard1948Apr 11, 2021AspirantWe have point broadband as our internet provider. They are fiber optic cable. The cable is run from a buried pedestal to a box on the outside of our condo. The cable is run up outside of the condo and enters through our second floor attic. It is then run through the attic, through the attic wall into a box with a door on the wall inside the hall of the bedroom on the second floor. That Ethernet cable is run directly into my Orbi Router housed right by the box. The other two satellites are on the first floor of our condo.
