Great! A Throwing Star is about $10 on Amazon.
If you can get a command line on the router, try the netstat command.

I'm not in the US, but I did find a Throwing Star replica (?) for $15 plus tax. Interesting! So if I connect my PC to the cable in between the device and the router, I can use Wireshark to see the communications. (I will first have to go to Wireshark University, since I am sure it will have a learning curve).
For the command line, is the intention to find out which ports are open on the IoT device? If so, they are 67 (DHCP) and 554 (RTSP), although I just ran nmap from my PC to query it directly. :)
