Robc101,.
It does appear as though I misspoke when I didn't notice which router you had. I apologize for the confusion but it did sponsor a great deal of good information on this vulnerability.
The fact of the matter is that we have updated our currently shipping routers (see the brief here)
Security Advisory for CVE=2017=7494, Samba Remote Code Execution
And what I have confirmed is that there are not plans to update the WNR3500 to SMB2, so you'll need to either use one of the workarounds listed in this thread or buy a new router. Sorry I don't have better news,
John

Microsoft says
In Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and Windows Server, version 1709 (RS3), the Server Message Block version 1 (SMBv1) network protocol is no longer installed by default. It was superseded by SMBv2 and later protocols starting in 2007. Microsoft publicly deprecated the SMBv1 protocol in 2014.
To work around this issue, contact the manufacturer of the product that supports only SMBv1, and request a software or firmware update that support SMBv2.02 or a later version.

Microsoft OS update has disabled SMB1 support by default since Q4 2017, while ReadySHARE requires SMB1 protocol to be enabled to access.
You would need to manually turn on SMB1 by going to "Turn Windows features on or off" and check "SMB 1.0/CIFS Client" under "SMB 1.0/CIFS file sharing support"
