ElaineM solved my problem by finding out that the system couldn't handle the fact that I first tried to register the product without the serial number and the second time I registered the product with the serial number, but not the model number. So it considered it registered apparently, just not to me. She got customer service to set it so that it now shows as registered to me. Thank you Elaine!

I want to register my Netgear router that I bought last November. It has a lifetime warranty. When I go to register it - it says:
This Serial number has already been registered in our system by a support representative.
So who was it registered to? Unfortunately I have to ask here because there is no phone number or email address or chat. So can they community tell me how it was registered, but not to me?

Maybe a family member registered it previously?
Send me a PM of the S/N and will check this for you.

i too am having the same problem - I am having problems entering my username/password even though i know it is correct. So I tried to verify using my serial number but I get the 'This Serial number has already been registered in our system by a support representative' . i set up a profile but that's not helping me any. I would rather not do a factory reset if at all possible. I need to do modifications to the router but this is stopping me - additional if/when i am able to access the settings so I can do a backup of configuration settings - would I need to do a firmware upgrade - would it benefit me in any way? Any help avoiding a factory reset would be greatly appreciated since I am a real novice at this.:smileysad:

Hi lorelei739
What is the interface that needs the username and password?
Is this when you access the www.routerlogin.net?
If that's the window, the default username will always be admin and the default password is password.
Now the password might have been changed differently when you set it up before. If it can no longer retrievable, there's no other way to access it but to reset.
When you reset, you will have to configure the router again as if it's brand new out of the box.
To configure the router, you may follow the instructions from this link.
