You can try recoving it with tftp or nmrpflash.
are you on windows? if so, follow this guide
https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP
just make sure you enable tftp
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-tftp-windows-10
and here's a video walk through using a tftp client. Use the built in one for windows 10 though. the video is more of an example of how its done.

and if that doesn't work, you can try using nmrpflash

Hey!
Thank you so much for the response! I am trying this, but the issue is that I cannot get my computer to recognize the network any longer. I can't download or use the routerlogin page to conigure settings. I'm not sure how to proceed from there. Is there something I'm missing?
Or do I not need to have the router recognized at all for this to function. Please let me know

That is because the router needs "mending".
The firmware is bust. So you need to download a copy of the latest firmware using some other device. Perhaps the one you are using to post messages here will work.
When you have a copy of the firmware, and after you have "unzipped it" from the file you retrieved, you have to follow the instructions as explained in the pages and videos that plemans advised you to read.

Just one word of warning, the WNDR4500 dates back to 2013. TFTP should still work there too, but a lot has changed in router technology in the nearly 10 years since that router first appeared.

It is a known issue with that router. The firmware has become corrupt and you need to unbrick it. Download tftp2.exe and there's several videos on youtube that show you how to "unbrick a router." You will also need to download the firmware for that router from the netgear website where you'll have to select it on the tftp2.exe program to unbrick it.

Usually best done with the native TFTP client. (tftp2.exe is kind of yesterday's toy.) You just have to enable it.
