I just updated this post with the model information! I attempted to change the security settings from TKIP to AES. There were two areas in the wireless settings on routerlogin.net that I made this change to. I clicked "apply changes" and nothing would be changed. The Switch message said "This network's settings are not supported. Please choose a different network". I looked this up, and that usually means the security settings on the router are not supported on Switch.

What were you doing when you tried this?
192.168.1.1 and change the security settings, but the new settings would not save. I tried logging in using my Macbook, but was unable to access the site.
What "site"? The browser graphical user interface?
What message did you get. I'm afraid "unable to access the site" isn't enough to go on.
What else is on your network? A modem? Something else?
Did you try this?

Lots of hits.
Your problem may stem from the age of your WNDR4000. This device has its origins back in 2010. I bet your Nintendo Switch isn't that ancient. A lot has change on the router front in the past 12 years, especially on the security front.
A Nintendo support forum should also be able to help you which settings to investigate.
