I just updated this post with the model information! I attempted to change the security settings from TKIP to AES. There were two areas in the wireless settings on routerlogin.net that I made this change to. I clicked "apply changes" and nothing would be changed. The Switch message said "This network's settings are not supported. Please choose a different network". I looked this up, and that usually means the security settings on the router are not supported on Switch.

Do you mean BASIC > Wireless : Security Options (for each radio), or
what?
If you did reasonable things (which I can't see), and "Apply" did
nothing, and no actual error message was emitted, then I'd suspect the
firmware.

Still wondering. If your firmware is current, then you might try a
settings (misnomer: "Factory") reset, and manual reconfiguration.
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at least). Read.
Look for "Reset".

practically anything better than "None" should work. But, if the router
fails to accept a legitimate settings change, then I'd wonder what it's
doing.
The other problem is that I can't get into the access control ( https://www.routerlogin.net or https://www.routerlogin.com)
I was initially able to change the security settings of the network on those websites, but now my internet browsers will not let me access these sites. I'm getting the standard "this site can't be reached" on my Macbook.
The wifi router is 10 years old. Maybe it's time for a new one?

Regarding "can't", see "not a useful problem description [...]",

Try "http://" instead of "https://" (as in the instructions)?

It's obsolete junk, but so is at least half my inventory. Perhaps
it's time actually to _read_ the User Manual, and not just skim over it.
