Samsung J3 phone "internet not available" on R6230
We just upgraded our home router to a R6230, and everything works great...except our phone. I've got a Samsung Galaxy Prime Express 3 (aka J3), and it connects to the router just fine, but cannot acc...

Wired connections worked fine. Firmware is V1.1.0.68_1.0.1. And I had rebooted the router and modem in the correct sequence many times. I'm always careful with that. :)
I reset the router to factory settings, and created all-new wifi networks again...and this time, it seems to work. I was able to connect multiple devices (including the J3) to the 2.4GHz without any issues (yet), and wired and 5GHz connections are currently functioning correctly as well. Let's hope it stays that way!

I made sure to remove all old networks from the J3 just to be sure. And as it turns out, NO devices can connect to the internet via the 2.4GHz band on the router. I tested a laptop, some game systems, an e-reader, etc. They all have the same problem: connecting the network just fine, but no internet access. I'm giving the router a factory reset and trying again, but if it doesn't work, then it's getting returned.

Can anything wired connect to the router?
Does the internet LED show that it is connected to the internet?
When you replaced the router did you reboot the whole network? This is essential.
Too many people turn up here saying they replaced a router, expecting it to be a simple swap job. That is wrong.
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
- Turn off and unplug the modem.
- Turn off the modem router and computers.
- Plug in the modem and turn it on. Wait 2 minutes.
- Turn on the modem router and wait 2 minutes.
- Turn on the computers.
Maybe you did all this. It isn't clear from your messages.
Oh, and what is the modem in front of the router? And the firmware on the R6230?

That's good. You didn't say, helps to have full details, and the boot order comes up so often that it is always worth reminding people.

More good news.
Anyone would think that this IT stuff is supposed to be scientific rather than the witchcraft that we all know it to be.
Now it is time to install the drivers for your J3 so that you can connect it to the PC! It was much easier doing that for my new A5 than older mobiles.
