Security concern

I’ve just purchased and plugged in a Wi-Fi extender and am getting 10 or so unknown devices join my network. As soon as I remove them they rejoin. This doesn’t feel right. Does anyone have any advice.

Thanks very much

  • we'd need more info.

what router do you have it connected to?

Are those "unknown" devices connected to the router and the extender is just displaying them in the network map?

    Are they connected wireless? Wired?

Do you have a screen snip of the router's attached devices page and the extenders to compare the 2?

Thanks very much for the reply.

It's the standard router that Sky supply with their super fast package.

Yes the unknown devices are all connected to the router / showing on the router app.

The unknown devices are all wireless and are totally unknown. We've accounted for all the devices we normally have connected and these new ones have shown up since attaching the extender. As quick as I remove them they reappear!

Have you tried simply changing the wifi password? (for both router and then reinstalling the extender)

You'll have to reconnect devices and can watch as devices are added.
