michaelkenward has steered you in the correct direction.
But I'd rethink buying just an access point. The R6400 was released in 2015. It's pushing a decade old, and adding money to it and making a sketchy mesh system might cause you more headache/stability issues than paying the extra for a mesh system. You can pick up used/renewed AC mesh systems pretty cheaply. It's not a whole lot more than buying an access point. I snagged an RBK53 system for a family member for around $40 on the local marketplace. I'm not saying you'll find something like that. This is just a thought because the router is the base for the system, and yours is old and just a step up from the base model devices.
