Unfortunately, LAN ports can't be fixed by firmware.
Therefore, it's time to get a new router.

Hi Elaine,
The model number is WNDR4300.
New cables were purchased about 3-4 weeks ago. No difference. Switching out the cables — changing them up with respect to individual ports — doesn’t make any difference either.

Thanks again for the info.
Just out of curiosity: what is the average lifespan of a router these days? This router is not even two years old and already it has been malfunctioning for a while.

To answer your question, it really depends on how the device is used and well maintained by doing firmware upgrade.
Our routers are built to be used for good amount of time.
