Trouble connecting AC1000 to internet through AC7500

The wi-fi (2.4/5Gig) feature in my AC7500 stopped working, after a few years. The modem and router features continue to work. I bought a AC1000 router/wi-fi and plugged it into the AC7500. Since the AC7500 modem works fine and the AC1000 needs a modem should be no problem - well I don't know how to make it work. .

I can see the new wi-fi on the air but Spectrum says Netgear must activate the internet connection for the AC1000 wi-fi service

Just for your info - before I purchased the AC1000 I bought a new AC7500. Had to return it because Spectrum said they  would not support the  device. They would not accept  the MAC id on the  new AC7500 so I had to return it to Best Buy. The box says it is supposed to work with Spectrum.

  • 1. AC7500 isn't a model. its usually a speed but netgear didn't even make a AC7500.

    2. AC**** isn't models. They are speeds. Look at the labels for your devices and let us know what you actually have.

Its tough to read this to understand whats going on because we're not sure what exact devices you have. Or whats even going on.

That could mean anything and nothing.

There is no reason why any router should not "work with Spectrum". So router boxes rarely mention ISPs. There isn't enough room to mention them all.

If the box does mention an ISP it may be that the thing inside is a modem/router. This is a modem with a router bit added.

As plemans says, we won't know until you have looked at the label on the thing for what this AC7500 really is.

Modem/routers have a model number like C7500 for cable internet or D7000 for DSL Internet.
