unregistering my router
How do i unregister my account on Netgear? I would like to sell the one I have--is it even necessary to unregister? Or can I just do a factory reset before selling?

Definitely do that.
Deregistering will do not much. You can transfer the warranty or use support.
Leave it to the buyer. They can then ask Netgear to assign it to them if they come across something that needs it.
The only way to register/deregister a device is to invoke divine intervention in the shape of a Netgear moderator.
