What is the maximum speed of the WAN (Internet) port on WNDR4500v2?
Virginmedia has recently upgraded speed from 150Mb to 200Mb. After testing all morning, I was unable to attain more than ~150Mb download or 11.50Mb upload.
I have since bypassed the WNDR4500v2 by placing the Virgin SuperHub into router-mode and connecting directly via the SuperHub. And, I get the full 200Mb download & 12Mb upload.
These results suggest a limitation on the WNDR4500v2 WAN port. However, research suggests that the WAN port of the WNDR4500v2 should be 1Gb. I am using the latest firmware (V1.0.0.64_1.0.40), and the router was reset via reset button. So, I don’t understand what’s going on.
Does anyone have more information, or any solutions to this issue?
QoS router setting was the problem!
I had ‘Uplink bandwidth: Maximum’ value set as 12Mb. The previous value of 10Mb worked fine before the internet speed upgrade recently.
However, it appears that the WNDR4500v2 QoS feature cannot cope with internet speeds of above 150/10Mb.
Disabling QoS in WNDR4500v2 resolves WAN throttling, and I get the full 200/12Mb speeds.
I hope a firmware update can address the issue.
