WiFi Extender dropping connection intermittently

I have a Netgear EX6120 running firmware V1.0.0.54_1.0.34

  • The extender is placed in an area with a fairly good signal.
  • My Computer (running Ubuntu Linux 20.04) is in line of sight of the extender
  • The computer WiFi signal is very good with respect to the extender

When I connect, it is a strong signal and works fine, with decent speed. However, after a random period, the connection drops and does not reconnect. If the computer is connected to the router WiFi, the connection is at least persistent and rarely ever drops (even though it is a weaker signal).

The router is provided by Vodaphone (Huawei HHG2500)
