Wifi Range Extender Not Connecting

Hello,

 

I have a Hitron router and just bought the Ex3700 model extender. I followed the directions several times by using my web browswer to access the new extender setup, chosing the wifi extender, selecting my wifi network, and compelting the installation. However, I continue to get the error "you successfully created an access point but we did not detect an internet connection":

I am wondering if this model is incompatible with my router. If anyone has any other thoughts/suggestions, please let me know.

    Are you setting it up as an access point? 
    in access point mode, you need to have the extender hardwired into the router. 

     

    Otherwise you'd want to set it up using extender mode.
