Wifi setup URL
This is the website to setup a router mywifiext net, however there are many derivations of the same URL that would appear to be netgear support. These companies attempt to "fix" your problem by uncovering a made up problem then extort money from you to fix. I hope netgear monitors this page. Why wont you change the URL to stop this from hurting your customers. I was scammed thinking it was netgear on the other end of the chat. I am not the first person to get pulled in but am extremely disappointed in netgear for not attempting to fix by simply creating a new URL after buying every possible derirvation.

Next time just use the IP address.
A good way to ensure you're not connecting to an external site

The router world has been using IP addresses like mywifiext net for years. Netgear is not the only brand to do that, it is just one of the biggest and easiest to attack.
Every now and then someone gets suckered into one of these scams. You don't even have to use those addresses to fall for it, a web search for "Netgear help" can have the same result.
As long as there are crooks out there there will be scams like that. It is called social engineering. Banks also fall victim to this.
The solution is to be careful when you do anything on line.
