But it wasn't worth looking in the User Manual?
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at least). Read. Look for
"Connect a PC to the Extender with an Ethernet Cable"./!\ CAUTION:
Do not use Ethernet cable to connect the Extender to a router.
If you do so, the Extender does not work because it is
designed to use only a wireless connection to the router.

The wisdom was all packed into the first part. Most non-helpless
people can do considerable reading in the time required to post a
question and then wait to have someone else read the documentation to
him.- charliedawgDec 30, 2020Aspirant
The problem that I had was to extend home wifi to an outhouse some 50 yards from our house - the outhouse had mains power linked to our home. I had thought that two spare BT mini connectors linked to the mains would allow the home router signal to be fed to the outhouse. Then my idea was to use an old Netgear WN3000RP to provide the wifi at that site. As pointed out by Guru, the Netgear kit was not suitable for this purpose but I have been able to reconfigure a spare BT Smart hub 6 to link via Ethernet cable to the BT Mini connector located in the outhouse and thus to provide wifi there.
There are several Youtube videos and internet articles detailing how to reconfigure the remote router if anyone has a similar project in mind.
