What extender you are connecting to it?
What firmware is on the router?

Were you trying to use the "one push button" method on it? (WPS)
Or did you try connecting to the extender and using its installation assistant?
Reason I ask is the push button method works great with the same manufacturer's but when you mix them, you can run into issues. Its where a manual setup works better.
