WNDR3400; wireless operation stops frequently requiring the wireless settings to be re-applied.

Welcome to the community!
What model version do you have? What wireless devices are affected? All wireless devices are affected? Which wireless signal (2.4GHz/5GHz) you're connecting to?
How's your wired connection? Is it stable?
Are there any other wireless devices that may cause interference with the wireless connection? Make sure to avoid microwave ovens, baby monitors, cordless phones, and the likes.
Do you have the latest firmware installed? If not, kindly upgrade to the latest firmware then do not forget to factory reset the router.
You will have to use a paperclip to push the reset button at the back of it for 10 seconds.
After reset, reconfigure the router to get back the internet connection. Once you're up and running observe your connection.
Thank you for your response to my problem. Here are answers to your
questions (as best I am able).
Not sure of the model version, purchased new July of 2011.
All wireless devices affected.
2.4 GHz is normal connection.
The wired connection to my desk top Mac is stable.
Wireless devices are 2 iPhones, 2iPads, Sony TV and a Bose Soundtouch.
When I log in to Netgear I am told there are no firmware upgrades available.
Hope this helps.

You can verify the model number here.
What's the current firmware version installed on your router?
Do you still have the wireless light turned on from the front panel of your router?
If it still lit, try to change the channel by logging into the router admin page.
Did you try reset?

I verified the model number is WNDR3400 without an accompaning version number.
I found it! Firmware version is V1.0.0.52_20.0.0.60
The wireless light is "on" on the router front panel.
I procurred inssider and have learned a whole lot about routers, very helpful. I have used inssider to identify the best channels and made changes accordingly. Thank you for the recommendation.
I have not tried reset currently, I would like to get experience with the changes made before I do that again. I tried reset when the problem first started.
