WNDR3400v3 running warm/ hot

I just bought this router a few days ago. I got it all set up and it is running decent and I even called Amplex (company I have internet through) to make sure all of the settings were correct and I didnt miss anything important or even something small. What troubles me is that this router is running on the warm side even when I'm not using any electronics. Its warm to touch just sitting dormant and its even warmer/ hot if I'm playing my video games and streaming things or using netflix and other video apps. Is this normal for this router? I have an older model N300 I bought several years ago that is the one I was replacing with this N600 one, but the 300 never got warm or ran hot no matter what I was doing as far as internet usage. I was trying to upgrade to a newer router and wanted one that would be better for online gaming for both console and pc, but I need one that does a decent job and doesn't cost an arm and a leg to buy. I live out in the middle of nowhere so even though I know its difficult because its not cable, I would like to maximize my online gameplay and maintain a good quality connection while playing. If the heat isn't normal I would like to know incase I have to return the router, or if you would recommend using a different router at all I would greatly appreciate any advice.

It's normal for routers to get warm to touch but nothing like hot.

Make sure that your router is well ventilated with no obstructions around the unit or anything that could block air flow.

However, if it's affecting the performance it's bets to get it replaced.
