WNDR3700-100NAS Firmware update from 1.0.16.68NA to 1.0.16.98NA reset Region to Europe

It is really a "RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router WNDR3700-100NAS" purchased in 2010 in the United States. Was on firmware version 1.0.4.68NA and upgraded to 1.0.16.98NA hopfully to fix the Attached Devices that were empty. This update caused it to change Regions from North America to Europe and consequently limit my 5Ghz Wireless Channels to only 4. I have tried every other firmware to get back to where I was without any luck as it is still stuck with Europe etc. I have not reset the router and started from there yet as I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to correct the situation? Should have left it alone as it was working great other than the Attached Devices not working...

Flip a coin?  Run the experiment?  I have no actual experience with a
WNDR3700, so I know nothing.  Normally, I'd suggest reading the Release
Notes to see if the new firmware looks valuable, but we are talking
about Netgear firmware, where the Release Notes typically convey no
    useful information.

What could go wrong?  Keep that reset in mind the next time an update
(or anything else) scrambles your settings.

Probably the thing to do.  1.0.4.68 to 1.0.16.98 may have been too
big a jump.  If the settings get scrambled (by an update or anything
else), then a reset may straighten them out.

Reset the router then upgraded firmware to 1.0.4.68NA. Checked for firmware upgrade and it found 1.0.7.98NA. It installed without any issues. Then secured router and rechecked for more firmware updates and it found none. At this point I thought I was all done, but I rechecked Netgear's Downloads page and found a firmware version 1.0.16.98NA that my router on manual check did not find. Should I try updating to this version or leave well enough alone? Everything is as it should be in the settings of the router... Thank you for your input, it has been extremely helpful and appreciated!
