WNDR4500 no admin access
Dear all,
Tried today to upgrade the firmware of my WNDR4500, but failed hopelessly.
- first get no access to router admin function through Genie (OSX app)
- restored factory setting on...

That's right. names like "routerlogin.net" work only for the router
which acts as a DNS server. A wireless access point is never a DNS
server.
You should be able to talk to the WAP at its LAN IP address, if you
know that address. If you specified a static address when you selected
WAP mode, then you (should) know it. If you specified "Get dynamically
from existing router", then you'd need to look for the router-as-WAP in
some kind of "Attached Devices" or "DHCP Clients" report from the main
router.

Hi Antinode,
Thanks for your reply.
I have set my WNDR4500 AP at fixed IP and can access the the AP on its webpage.
I have given it an IP-address outside the DHCP range of my main DSL modem/router.
I still cannout access the WNDR4500 from the OSX Genie app, but assume that is also because the WNDR4500 does not publices itself on the LAN.
Problem solved.
