WNDR4500 unable to connect to wifi

I have an iPhone with iOS 16.6.1. I've tried to connect to my WNDR4500 router wirelessly, but I got an error message saying "unable to connect to the network", even though I had the correct passkey. ...

What makes you think that the router is the issue?

By the way, the WNDR4500 dates back to 2013 and is several generations behind current wifi technology.
