WNR 2000v5 - Not connecting

I bought a new modem. The router powers up, has wifi but will not connect to the internet.

Tried new either net cable.

The unit doesn't seem to have a factory reset button.

Any help would be appreciated.

Which unit? The reset button on the WNR2000v5 is cunningly hidden on the bottom.

    Visit the support pages:

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

    Find the section Factory Settings.

  • ah jeez. I can't believe they're still selling that old N300 device.

It wasn't fast when it was released in 2009. And is only a 10/100mbps device.

Unless you're on some pretty slow service, its time to retire that router and get something from at least last generations of devices.

I bet they aren't on sale. Just someone found something lying in the bottom of a cupboard and decided to dig it out.

It really does belong in the e-waste recycling bin. More useful there. But that wasn't the question.

There are too many unanswered questions to suggest much else.

That hidden reset button was a weird aberration on the part of whoever designed those things. I had something similar way back when.

Thank you to everyone for your replies.

I looked back in my download folder and found the Net Genie program from a long time ago.

I installed that and went through a few set up items and the router is now working.

I use it to stream prime, netflix, and the internet connection on my fire TV.

It never has let me down while working. No buffering...

I am returning the new router I bought to Amazon....

reuse, recycle, replace as a last resort.
