WNR2000V3 img file doesn't update
When I attempt to update my WiFi router, I download the file that shows on the Netgear website, it is a *.img file which the manuals says should work. Alas, it does not. As you can see below, it say...
Well, that's embarrassing. My router was replaced and I forgot about it. It is an R6300V2 and I have updated my router. Thanks so much for reminding me to do the obvious . . . check the model.

At least the router didn't manage to install the wrong firmware. That would have been much more embarrassing .... and expensive
