WNR2000v4 N300 Firmware Update Problem- "The Selected disc image file isn't valid"
Per screen shot below, I am unable to burn the disc image. Recommendations much appreciated!

This time when I plugged in the router address it brought me to the Netgear genie which gave me the option to do the firmware update. I accepted and it went through a 3 minute process that terminated with disconnect from the internet. To get back up I had to do a factory reset of my router and couple reboots of my PC. Finally back up and sufficiently rattled by the whole experience that I'm just going to let it be... Thanks again for your help.

Despite what Windows says, this is not a disc image. It is a firmware image. If you want to install it, log into into your router and go to Advanced > Administration > Firmware Upgrade. Click on Browse and point it at this file.

I know my router password but apparently not my username (tried my eMail address in my NetGear profile- no luck). Is there a way to look it up? Thanks!

The username is always admin.

so typed in "admin" for username and the password for my router (the same that I give to my friends when they visit so they can access my wifi) and screen keeps popping back up requesting same info. recommendations?...

You need to enter the admin password, not the Wi-Fi password in order to log into the router. If you never changed the admin password, the default password is password. Be sure to change it!
