WNR2000v5 can't connect after factory reset.
I did a factory reset of my router since I needed to change some settings but couldn't remember my password. After the reset I could log in to the genie (routerlogin.net) just fine, but every time I t...

I checked router status, and noticed that my IP address is noted as being 0.0.0.0, which might be causing the issue, but I am unable to come up with a solution for this.
What modem sits between the router and the Internet?
After the reset, did you restart the network in the prescribed manner?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
- Turn off and unplug modem.
- Turn off router and computers.
- Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
- Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
- Turn on computers and rest of network.
After the reset I could log in to the genie (routerlogin.net) just fine, but every time I tried the setup wizard (both automatic and manual), the wizard couldn't connect to the internet.
How are you connecting to the router? With a browser graphical user interface (GUI)?

Thank you for your quick response.
I don't know what kind of modem is used, I only have physical access to the router, not the modum.
As for the power cycling; I forgot to mention this, but I tried it a few times before posting, but nothing changed.
After the reset I followed the instructions in the manual to the letter, twice.
I'm using a browser interface which I can access both through my phone's wifi and my desktop's ethernet cable.
My router and ethernet cable seem fine, all lights are green, etc.
Only thing that seems off is that according to the interface, my router can't get an IP address.

Have you tried plugging a PC into whatever delivers you the Internet? Leave out the router. If you can get in line, then your Internet probably comes from a router of some sort.
If that is the case, then you could see if your WNR2000v5 will work in access point mode.

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Check the section in the manual Use the Router as a Wireless Access PointMaybe that is how it was set up before you reset the router. That would have put it back into router mode.
For further troubleshooting we really need to know where the Internet comes from.

The way I understand it, every floor has a central modem with 20 routers connected to it, resulting in 20 private networks, one for each room. So I just get the end of a long cable to my room, which I can connect to the router. The modem itself is behind a lock, I believe. As such, the only way I can interact with the modem is by connecting the modem cable which ends in my room to my router. Thus, I can only reset all parts of the network except for the modem.
So, to be clear: I cannot reset the modem myself and I can't connect my desktop directly to it. It has to go through the router which doesn't seem to work anymore since the reset.
I tried enabling Access Point mode, and although my router seemed to briefly connect and change the IP address, it had the added effect of kicking me out of the router control and not allowing me back in.- michaelkenwardApr 05, 2023Guru - Experienced User

Have you tried plugging your PC into that long cable to your room?
I tried enabling Access Point mode, and although my router seemed to briefly connect and change the IP address, it had the added effect of kicking me out of the router control and not allowing me back in.That could be because the network changed the IP address on your WNR2000v5. That is a sign that you have connected the AP to a router.
You need to track down the new IP address of your WNR2000v5. Then feed that into the browser graphical user interface (GUI).
