thanks for your reply. I dont understand everything you said re: access points and mesh systems. All I know is the bulb manufacturer (Bright) says "Verify your network and ensure your mobile device is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi channel. Once you have successfully configured your Bright Smart device to a 2.4GHz network, you can switch back to mixed mode or ....."
I found this page (attached file) on the Router Set-up Genie and wonder if I uncheck/delete the 5GHz check box, save my setting, connect my device, and re-set the 5GHz setting - will this work?

Of course you can disable the 5 GHz wireless radio on the router in this case.
It's a little but difficult to help without information and having a wireless client device (A7000) marked - and not a router.
