Why is it that when I select my 5G it says it is out of range when my router is right underneath my device
- Jun 06, 2019
The control you shown this has not fixed anything - as it does not change anything on the router configuration.
We're always keen to learn however.

Help us out here with a bit more information.
What Netgear hardware is this?
What are you using to connect to the 5GHz wifi?
Apologies for the questions. But you can help people to help you by providing the information suggested in this forum's header:
Subject (Include model number and brief summary)
Model (Recommended - Helps the community give the best answers)
Body (Include additional detail including model version, firmware, OS and environment where relevant.)
They are there for a good reason.

The model number is 28743565. Took a photo of the back since I have no idea what to select in your list. It is a Netgear81 and I attached a photo of the back of the router. It says that the WiFi is out of range when it is located right underneath my android box

Netgear81 is the SSID, the wifi source that you should connect to, using the password in the slot underneath it.
Is that what you are using when you get the "WiFi is out of range" message?
If you visit the support pages:
you can feed in the model number and find all the documentation for your hardware.
- AuroradawnJun 06, 2019AspirantCould not find the 5G only the 2g message was out of range when the modem is right below the android device

The CM400 in tour footer is a cable modem. It does not do wifi.
I repeat, what is the model number of your router?
It should begin with an R and look something like RXXXX.
- AuroradawnJun 06, 2019AspirantSorry but this is my model number. My router channel only goes up to 11

Does this Android box list the 5G network name on air, or are you trying to connect it to a stored connection profile, ...? Depending on the age and source of this Android box, it might be unable to work on the channels currently operational on your router - for example if one or the other was designed and designated to work under a different regulatory domain.
- AuroradawnJun 06, 2019AspirantEven my tv could not find it and it is a Bravia Sony 4K TV. I can connect my iPhone and laptop to the 5G but not my firestick or TV which is above the router
- schumakuJun 06, 2019Guru - Experienced User
Not up to speed, but no so long ago the Fire TV and Firestick clients had no support for the DFS channels https://www.amazonforum.com/forums/devices/fire-tv/466853-fire-stick-cant-find-5g-wifi
For the Bravia, similar limitations might apply ... if really located just above -> BRAVIA TV Support: How to connect the TV to a network using a wired connection
If you are located in the US, you might try to change change the router to channels 36-48 or 149-165 - these are the only non-DFS channels under FCC regulatory.
- AuroradawnJun 06, 2019AspirantModel number is R6700v2

And the Android box is ...?
Can you see and connect the router 5G network from other devices, e.g. a mobile phone?
What do you see on this Android box? A photo might help to understand your question a little bit better.
